“Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. Unreasonable people attempt to adapt the world to themselves. All progress, therefore, depends on unreasonable people.”
George Bernard Shaw
What do you do when you fall head first into a career you never thought you’d have?
You blog about it.
Eventually. Then you start working towards getting the life you actually want and have to rethink the whole thing.
This blog used to be about being a creative, fairly unconventional person stuck in an increasingly conventional, corporate job. Then I quit that job to try and make it on my own as an author, a freelance writer and an online marketing consultant.
So I wrote about marketing until I realised that I don’t want to spare my spare time writing about something I do as a job for money. I’m going to write about other things now and hope it makes me actually want to sit down and write for a change.
I am a creative writer by training (I specialised in horror fiction at Uni) with a background in art, dance, music and stage production (among other equally random things). I worked as a virtual reality games instructor, a driver, a VJ, a journalist and an online moderator before landing a job as the marketing manager for a major online media company (previously a happy-go-lucky startup and now owned by a giant corporation that is neither happy nor a goer).
Now I am a freelancer trying to cruise on my savings for a while and see a bit more of the world before I have to take on some more work.
